Outline of projects

The development unit AR 3 bros. and precog planned and produced this project for exploring the possibilities and use of digital archives (3D data and motion capture) of human bodies. They digitized movements and forms of people whose bodies were the abodes of experience, exchanged views with experts in various fields (including art, law, and development) on the modes of use, and delved into the related prospects for new art and performance.

Outline of works

■VIRTUAL NIPPON COLOSSEUM (FY2021)
The fiscal 2021 installment of this work collected data for Aoi Yamada (a dancer), Kasedori (a folk event), Dansei Blanco (a comedian), Momiji Nishiya (a professional skateboarder), Kaede Maegawa (a para athlete), Masayasu Maeda (from the drumming group Kodo), and Takuya Muramatsu (a buto dancer from the troupe Dairakudakan). The project consisted of the distribution of digital videos of their performances, provision of contents through AR applications, and online conferences.

■VIRTUAL NIPPON BODIES (FY2022)
Focusing on the sphere of art and music, the fiscal 2022 installment drew the participation of Sachiko Kobayashi (a singer), YONEDA 2000 (a comedian), Chinza DOPENESS (a rapper), and Koji Ishikawa (a singer-songwriter). It included Gonta+ Puppeteer (Ningyo Joruri Bunraku) and Fumiya Otonashi (a sho player) from the field of traditional arts, and the Owara Kaze no Bon Festival (traditional song and dance from the city of Toyama) and Chankoko (Nembutsu Odoi) from the Goto Islands from the field of traditional events. Data for a total of about 20 people were made available for viewing as a catalogue of virtual bodies. Besides the deployment on AR applications and holding of real related events, we prepared posters and trading cards, and presented new modes of AR data use.
